Aging “Naturally”

The most common statement I hear when a new client comes to me for consultation is, “I want to age naturally”. Aging naturally means something different to everyone, so let’s talk about that!

What does aging naturally mean to you? Here’s my perspective. We are going to age, that’s a given. Our minds, our bodies, our skin. But we don’t just “let everything go”. We want to age healthily so that we can enjoy life after retirement, stay active in our advanced years without pain or ailments, and watch our kids and grand babies grow. We exercise to keep our bodies, hearts, and lungs in shape. We eat healthy to maintain our weight. We read or do puzzles and crosswords to keep our brains sharp. We meditate or seek therapy to care for our mental health. Our outer appearance of our face and skin is no different!

I’ve said it before, clinical grade skincare is one of the best things you can do for your skin. It’s scientifically developed and studied. One of the reasons I love SkinMedica so much is because it is owned by a pharmaceutical company with stringent standards. All products are researched in their final formulation and do what they say they do! This is aging naturally.

Botox and Xeomin relax muscles that cause wrinkles. They are highly effective in diminishing wrinkles and even preventing wrinkles. People take medication to lower blood pressure and cholesterol, regulate hormones, and alleviate erectile dysfunction. This is aging naturally.

DiamondGlow exfoliates skin, cleans out pores, and infuses treatment serums into the skin to improve radiance, allow better penetration of home regimens, and detoxify. People do colon cleanses and other detox systems to decrease inflammation and prevent disease. This is aging naturally.

Dermal fillers replace lost volume, whether it’s from weight loss, illness, or advancing age. People have knee replacements, heart valve replacements, and transplants to better function. This is aging naturally.

Laser skin rejuvenation, IV Vitamin Therapy, body contouring, Microneedling…they are all ways to care for yourself and slow outward signs of again. These are aging naturally!

Are you seeing my point?

I had a woman tell me yesterday she asked an older woman what she had done to keep herself looking much younger than her actual age. The woman was very secretive and some women even become offended! That really got me thinking about this subject. We shouldn’t feel ashamed to want to look and feel our best! We are not “fake”. We should share our experiences, we are coming to each other for help!

I would love to hear your thoughts on this subject and what aging naturally means to you. Please comment! Or if you would rather send a private email, I would love to hear from you that way too!
