A Little bit of fate
Blog post
I’ve mentioned before (repeatedly), how much I love DiamondGlow. My SkinMedica rep, (Kirby, one of the sweetest humans on earth), introduced me to it very early in my business start-up, knowing that I wanted something effective that I could offer anyone. She brought in the DiamondGlow (it wasn’t even DiamondGlow back then; anyone remember DermalInfusion?), and I demo’d it one afternoon using my husband, Mike, as a model (if you’ve seen our stories, you know we pick on Mike). I immediately fell in love with its ease of use and immediate results (more on that for another day), so I bought it and it STILL remains one of my favorite services to date!
Last summer, Kirby casually asked me if I would be interested to talking to other people about DiamondGlow. Of course I said yes, thinking this might be an occasional phone call or a text from someone with questions. What I really got myself into was an interview process, where I was selected as one of a few fellow DiamondGlow lovers across the whole country (man, public speaking still makes me sweat), and we were sent to training in Nashville to become faculty for the Allergan Medical Institute. I now get to travel the country (Besides trainings in Iowa, I’ve been to California, Kansas, and Minnesota; and this month I get to travel to South Dakota and Texas) to train other MedSpas and practices like mine on all things DiamondGlow.
My favorite thing about being a trainer for AMI isn’t just sharing my expertise and love for the DiamondGlow, but also what I get back in return from those I train. My experience is STRONGLY grounded in nursing, and they don’t teach us to wash faces in nursing school (have you ever tried to wash someone else’s face and make it an enjoyable experience?). I’m fascinated by watching estheticians work their magic. They make it look effortless. They are also an encyclopedia of knowledge on skincare ingredients! I’ve been well-trained in SkinMedica and Colorescience, but am constantly learning from them other tips and skincare products that can benefit my own clients.
I’ve known for a while that I wanted to bring an esthetician to SkinFusion FX, but I knew she had to be the right one. Every business decision I make affects how YOU see SkinFusion. When I’m not with my family (and oftentimes when I AM with my family), I’m working on the business. I wanted someone I could trust with what has become a huge part of my life, and that would take pride in it the same way I do! Then I met Tera Oberbroeckling. I’ve known of Tera for several years, as our boys were often opponents at wrestling tournaments (I’m not sure that Mason ever did beat Will, but now he’s outgrown him). I officially met Tera when her beautiful family moved to our school district. One day Will got injured in PE class and suffered a nasty gash on his leg and Tera contacted me to see if I had anything that could help him heal quicker. During our encounter, we talked about her current job and her desire to get back into a career where she had more human interaction and I asked her if she had ever considered esthetics. Within a couple weeks, she was enrolled in PCI’s program and has been killing it ever since!
This was my girl! She is passionate about serving others and providing the best experience to her clients (I even went to have a custom blend facial by her at the school to check her out and she exceeded my expectations); she’s charming and sweet; and she’s driven by the same things I am. I could easily picture her working alongside Alyssa and me at SkinFusion FX, and was ecstatic when she returned the sentiment!
We are now counting down the weeks until Tera officially joins us. She has a few hours left at PCI, so if you want a sneak peak of her skills, schedule an appointment with her at the school for any of her spa services! We plan to introduce her at our fall open house (details on our website and social media pages), and will have more information soon regarding her hours and service offerings. We are absolutely positive you will love Tera as much as we do!
